Empowering Women to Take Control of Their Bone Health: Osteoboost Launches Nationwide

Today represents an important milestone for women’s bone health.

My interest in bone health began in college, while working at a nursing home. I saw firsthand how hip fractures could change a person’s life. Years later, I watched my mother and grandmother navigate osteoporosis. In my mid-50s, I was diagnosed with osteopenia myself, despite an intensive exercise program and meeting my calcium intake goals. When my doctor’s only advice was to “keep exercising and getting enough calcium,” (e.g. keep doing what I was already doing while I lost bone), it became clear how few meaningful treatment options existed.

That’s why I joined Osteoboost. The technology stood out for its scientific promise and personal relevance. I saw an opportunity to help change the trajectory for millions.

What I experienced is part of a much larger problem. More than 60 million Americans live with low bone density. One in six women in North America have osteopenia, yet too few are offered treatment before a fracture occurs.

Despite the prevalence and seriousness of the condition, osteoporosis has lacked innovation –  there are no new pharmaceutical agents in clinical trials and, prior to Osteoboost, no FDA-cleared prescription devices.  Unfortunately, this is typical of the lack of attention and investment in conditions impacting older women,  motivating me and our team to bring a solution to market.

May is both Women’s Health Month and Osteoporosis Awareness Month. It’s a timely reminder that women’s health challenges have long been under-recognized. These issues deserve more attention, more innovation, and more proactive care. That includes making bone health a priority as we age.

Today, after years of development and rigorous clinical testing, we are introducing the first-ever non-pharmacological prescription treatment for low bone density approved by the FDA.

Osteoboost is now available nationwide.

We are moving beyond the “wait and see” mindset and offering a science-backed solution that fits into everyday lives and helps women take control of their bone health.

A new solution rooted in science

Osteroboost’s vibration therapy draws inspiration from NASA-funded research on bone density loss in astronauts. Osteoboost represents a new way forward, offering a proactive, drug-free approach to bone health during a stage where treatment is urgently needed but rarely provided.

The wearable precision device delivers targeted vibration therapy to the spine and hips, the areas most at risk for osteoporotic fractures. It is clinically proven to significantly slow the loss of bone density and help preserve bone strength in postmenopausal women with osteopenia. In a gold-standard randomized controlled trial conducted at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Osteoboost showed:

  • 85% reduction in the loss of bone density in the spine
  • 83% reduction in the loss of bone strength in the spine
  • 55% reduction in the loss of bone density in the hip

Our device is not just easy to use. It is sophisticated medical technology, cleared through the FDA’s De Novo pathway and designated as a Breakthrough Device. That is a rare combination in healthcare.

Expanding our foundation

The response from the medical community has been overwhelming. During our pre-order phase, over 1,000 physicians prescribed Osteoboost, including providers at over 30 leading academic medical centers such as Stanford, Harvard, Duke, and the University of South Florida.

We’re also continuing to grow our clinical and intellectual property leadership. Osteoboost now holds six U.S. patents, and last year, we acquired Wellen, an online platform focused on exercise and fall prevention for women with low bone density.

Designed to work with you

We created Osteoboost to be both powerful and easy to use. You can wear it while cooking, folding laundry, or going for a walk. Treatment takes just 30 minutes a day. No medications. No complicated setup. Just a simple, effective way to actively take control and shape your future.

Making it easier to get started

Access and convenience is a major priority for us. We now offer online prescription consultations, allowing people to receive a prescription from their doctor or through a quick (or easy) telehealth visit. This flexibility means patients can take action faster and with fewer barriers.

Looking ahead

I have spent my career building tools that empower people, and Osteoboost is no exception. This device combines rigorous science and user-friendly design to support a major shift in how we think about aging, strength, and independence.

Bone health may not always be top of mind, but it plays a fundamental role in aging with confidence. Fragility fractures often happen silently, and the impact on mobility, confidence, and quality of life can be profound. With Osteoboost, we finally have a tool that helps people act early and take a more proactive approach to their health.

As more people enter menopause and retirement, the idea of “aging gracefully” is evolving into something more powerful: focusing on longevity, maintaining quality of life, and staying active through every stage.

To everyone who helped us reach this moment, thank you. We are just getting started.
